Fort Morgan, CO 11/2/2021. Morgan Community College (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) will host a Veteran Art Exhibit. The exhibit will be on display November 4 – November 18 at 300 Main Street in Fort Morgan. A reception for the exhibit will be held during the Fort Morgan Third Thursday Art Walk November 18 from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
The exhibit, which will showcase the unique and inspiring two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork from local and regional veterans, is sponsored by Northeast Colorado Veteran Suicide Awareness and Prevention (VSAP). VSAP is a community centered resource, located in Brush, which provides local, state and national resources for suicide awareness and prevention training and offers support to veterans and their families who may deal with suicidal concerns. The exhibit will feature local artists Rob Gifford, Robert Hay, Wayne Herbert, Norman Oliphant, and Dan Scalise.
“Veterans living in rural areas have less access to resources than in urban areas which can lead to increased risk. A sense of community and access to resources is vital and I am proud to work with Veterans through VSAP and alleviate barriers that may create undue stressors,” stated Susie Meyer, VSAP volunteer member. “I am inspired by their stories and displaying their artwork is an honor.”
CACE strives to identify events that recognize and honor military veterans throughout the area. “We are pleased to be able to display this collection of artwork from local and regional Veterans and collaborate with VSAP in honoring them,” said Suzanna Spears, CACE Coordinator. “I hope our community members find time to visit the CACE Gallery and experience these amazing works of art!”
Admission to the exhibit and the reception is free and open to the public. Attendees of the exhibit are asked to wear proper face mask covering and observe social distancing.
