The Morgan Community College (MCC) Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) announces an upcoming Astrophotography Art Exhibit featuring the captivating works of renowned photographer Maggie Martin. The exhibit, a stunning display of time-lapsed photography of the night sky, will be showcased at the MCC CACE Gallery of Fine Art, located at 300 Main Street, Fort Morgan, from May 16 to June 20, 2024.
Maggie Martin, the visionary behind Colorado Astrophotography, uses her artistic talent to provide individuals with a unique and immersive experience in understanding astronomy through the lens of her camera. With a passion for teaching astrophotography, Martin aims to engage others in the mindful appreciation of the environment.
A former special education teacher with two master’s degrees in early childhood education, Maggie Martin initially worked as a developmental interventionist, providing support to families with young children with disabilities. She transitioned from an over fifteen-year career in education to prioritize photography. Martin adapted her career to full-time photography during the onset of the pandemic. With home visits no longer viable, she turned her attention to a full-time career in photography to inspire people to explore and connect with nature differently.
Martin shared her thoughts in a recent interview with Shoutout CO, stating, “I want people to know that pursuing your passion is healing. Doing what you love is rewarding and fulfilling. Colorado Astrophotography is about providing a safe, mindful moment of awe to appreciate this beautiful world and our complete and essential significance amongst our vast and complex insignificance.”
The Astrophotography Art Exhibit is free and open to the public. The exhibit will conclude with an artist’s reception on June 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This event will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with Maggie Martin, gain insight into her creative process, and deepen their connection to the mesmerizing world of astrophotography.
“We are thrilled to showcase Maggie Martin’s Astrophotography at the MCC CACE Gallery of Fine Art,” stated MCC CACE Coordinator, Suzanna Spears. “Maggie’s work not only captures the breathtaking beauty of the night sky, but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of pursuing one’s passion. This exhibit promises to be an awe-inspiring experience for our community.”
