Fort Morgan, CO 3/08/2021. Each year Morgan Community College (MCC) recognizes employees for their achievements in carrying out the MCC mission, vision, and guiding principles.
MCC has named Lynne Collins as Faculty of the Year. Collins has been with MCC since 2014 as Health Professions Faculty. In her role, she helps provide leadership over the Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Assistant programs. Collins holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado, and an Associate of Science from Morgan Community College. “Lynne’s passion for teaching and learning inspires MCC’s students, staff and faculty,” stated one of her nominators.
Andrea Ertle was selected as MCC’s Administrative/Professional-Technical Employee of the Year. Ertle has been with Morgan Community College (MCC) since 2010, serving as a Financial Aid and Enrollment Specialist. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ashford University and an Associate of Arts from Northeastern Junior College. Ertle’s nomination was based on the excellent customer service she provides to students. During the transition from in-person to remote services at the start of the pandemic, she demonstrated this skill by ensuring students were able to receive support via phone or email. Her nominator stated, “I have witnessed Andrea perform many kindnesses to help students feel comfortable. She finds joy in service.”
Andrew Hayes was named MCC’s Part-time Instructor of the Year. Hayes has been with MCC since 2017, teaching humanity and philosophy classes. He holds a Master of Divinity from Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from Brian College. “I have always enjoyed working with Andrew. He is very professional and willing to change direction or take on extra classes if we need him to,” stated Andrew’s nominator.
Sandy Johnson was selected as the Classified Employee of the Year. Johnson has been with MCC for over ten years, serving as an Accounting Technician II. Her hard work is often behind the scenes but is critically important to the college’s operations. “She truly supports others in completing their work more efficiently, effectively, and professionally,” stated one of her nominators.
MCC Employees of the Year will be honored with a virtual celebration by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education in March 2021. Collins, Ertle, Hayes, and Johnson will also receive National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards and be given the opportunity to participate in a NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence.
