Morgan Community College (MCC) and the Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce have collaborated to expand support and services to businesses throughout the community.
Sandy Schneider-Engle has accepted the joint Director position, and will begin on Monday, October 14, 2019. Schneider-Engle’s background includes over 20 years of experience in marketing, community relations, and community/economic development. She most recently served as the Director of Marketing and Community Relations for Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Schneider-Engle’s formal education includes bachelor and master’s degrees in communications, and an economic development certificate focused on tourism within an agricultural-based community. She also has formal coursework and significant experience in multimedia and graphic design.
In her Business/Community Development role, Sandy will work closely with businesses and the community to develop and offer coursework that is affordable, flexible, and meets the broad needs of the region, including courses in QuickBooks, Marketing Your Business, and other key topics.
“This unique position was proposed as a way of helping the Fort Morgan Area Chamber have a well-qualified person at the helm to support and promote business development in the region,” said MCC President Dr. Curt Freed. “MCC will utilize Sandy’s community-based work to help develop and promote community and continuing education classes that are important to business success.”
Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce Board members Sandi Garcia of Salud Family Health Centers and Deb Elrick of Coates Realty Group participated in the MCC hiring and selection committee. Garcia said, “The Chamber Board of Directors are delighted to welcome Sandy Schneider-Engle as the new Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce Director. Sandy is well known in Fort Morgan for her work and service in the community, and she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role with the Chamber.”
Schneider-Engle’s office will be located at MCC’s 300 Main Street building, also home to the Morgan County Economic Development Corporation, the MCC Foundation, and MCC’s Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE). Starting Monday, Sandy can be reached at [email protected] or (970) 867-6702.
